Kochi (Kerala) [India], September 27: When empty social gestures often overshadow genuine compassion, Ajit Ravi chose a different path. In 2015, while serving as Superintendent of the Fire and Safety Department at Cochin International Airport Limited, he launched the 100 Life Challenge — a mission to support 100 lives through unwavering personal sacrifice. What began as a project to fund critical heart surgeries for the underprivileged grew into a wider initiative covering medical aid, education, and essential services.

For 100 consecutive months, Ajit donated 100% of his post-tax salary for eight hours of work to charity. Even during the turbulent pandemic years, when salaries were uncertain, he ensured that his contributions never stopped. Rooted in the principle of Individual Social Responsibility (ISR), the challenge highlights how personal action can create lasting social impact.

Yet, despite its noble cause, the challenge has remained his alone. Ajit notes that in a world where social service is often linked to fame or publicity, true charity rarely finds followers. His story stands as a reminder that real change comes from sacrifice, not spotlight.

----

Sport teaches failure, this is where success begins: Bindra

During the conversation, Abhinav Bindra said that learning from failure can help you achieve success in the future. The beginning of a player's and a doctor's career is quite similar. A lot of hard work and focus is necessary for both players and doctors. During this, your failure teaches you. I have also achieved success by learning from my failures. I was able to win the gold medal in the Olympics only by learning from my failures. Abhinav Bindra told the students that real success is your happiness. Put your mind into every work. If you play, play with your conviction and try to give your best every day. Don't look at the competition, do your best work every day. When you will find happiness in your work then it will lead you to success. On the question of the students, he said that don't let your emotions get suppressed, because if they remain, your attention will be distracted again and again. Talk to your parents, friends and share your feelings. This will help you learn to stay happy and only then will you learn to do any work with concentration.

----

Build relationships, stay disciplined

Your success in sports also depends on your relationship with the coach. Similarly, you should have good behaviour with your coach in studies and every field, your friends, fellow players or your competitors. Pay attention to your coach and follow him while being disciplined to improve yourself.

----

Hard work is necessary along with talent

He said that making a career in studies is a good thing. You all are studying in Kota after thinking something. Go into any career but definitely stay connected with some sports. Because what sports teaches you, you probably don't get to learn anywhere else. Play for a short while but definitely play. By accepting mental stress, your anxiety about the result will reduce a lot and your performance will improve. Gold medalist Bindra said that the best way to improve yourself is to take yourself out of your comfort zone.

----

Learn from every defeat

I played very badly in the Athens Olympics, but when I analyzed, I found out that the base on which I was standing was shaking, so I didn't hit well. We should analyze every defeat so that we can improve ourselves. We can make changes according to the circumstances.

----

Be honest to yourself

Bindra said, you have to be very honest to yourself and every day before sleeping, look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself, did I perform my best? If the answer is yes, then you will find that you will get better results and if it is no, then you need to improve yourself.

Mandi, December 14th, 2024: IIT Mandi hosted ‘Gitanushilanam 2024’ on the auspicious occasion of Gita Jayanti, commemorating the advent of the Bhagavad Gita, a timeless scripture that has inspired humanity for millennia. Organized by the IKSMHA Center (Indian Knowledge System and Mental Health Applications), this celebration aimed to highlight the relevance of the Gita in addressing contemporary challenges and fostering moral, cultural, and spiritual well-being.

The event embodied the spirit of ‘Gitanushilanam,’ derived from the Sanskrit words ‘Gita’ (Bhagavad Gita) and ‘Anushilanam’ (contemplation and practice). It emphasized integrating the Gita’s teachings into daily life by promoting adherence to Dharma, following the principles of Bhakti Yoga, and embracing the path of surrender to Lord Krishna as the ultimate means to attain harmony, purpose, and liberation.

The IKSMHA Center, dedicated to leveraging Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) for mental health and self-development, views the Gita as a beacon for cultivating resilience, emotional stability, and ethical leadership. By celebrating Gita Jayanti, the center aims to encourage a positive mindset and deeper connection to universal values rooted in Indian wisdom.

The program began with a soulful recitation of Chapter 15 of the Bhagavad Gita, followed by a lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the dispelling of ignorance through the light of knowledge. Performances included the Gita Mahatmya recitation, celebrating the scripture’s unparalleled spiritual significance, along with melodious renditions, cultural dances, and yoga performances that creatively depicted the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. The event also featured a shadow drama, bringing the Gita’s philosophical essence to life through an interplay of light and darkness. The program also showcased a video presentation of Gitanushilanam 2024, highlighting how thousands of children participated enthusiastically in Bhagavad Gita-based contests over the past few weeks, showcasing their creativity and understanding of the Gita's teachings.

IPS Soumya Sambasivan, the Chief Guest, lauded the initiative and its focus on blending culture with education. She remarked, “The Bhagavad Gita is a profound guide for mental well-being and self-discovery. Teachers play a pivotal role in inspiring students to shift their focus from life-threatening addictions to life-affirming principles of Krishna Consciousness. By sowing the seeds of Bhakti, they uphold moral and human values while imparting the essence of Dharma.”

She further highlighted the Gita’s enduring relevance, quoting its assurance in 9.31, ‘na me bhakta pranashyati’ (My devotee is never lost) and its ultimate teaching in 18.66, ‘sarva dharman parityajya,’ which emphasizes liberation through surrender. Drawing attention to the strength of women, she noted, “In Vibhuti Yoga (chapter 10), the Bhagavad Gita celebrates women as embodiments of divine energy, capable of transforming society through their adherence to Dharma.”

The celebration engaged over 2,000 schoolchildren from across the Mandi district in contests like the Bhagavad Gita Quiz, Shloka Recitation, Essay Writing, and Art Competition, with 700 students participating in today’s event. The following schools participated in the festivities: Mind Tree School, GSSS Baggi, Swami Vivekananda School, Boys School GSSS, Primary School, Girls School GSSS, SVM, KV School, DAV Khaliyar, ITI, Takshila School, Hillock School, DAV NerChowk, GSSS Kataula, GSSS Kamand, GSSS Kathindi, USV School, GSSS Tihri, GSSS Nissu, Genius School, and Indus Global School.

The day concluded with a heartfelt awards ceremony, recognizing the outstanding talent of young participants, and reflecting on the enduring relevance of Gita’s teachings in modern times.

Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], November 13: Local MLA Mr. Narendraji Bhondekar is working tirelessly to ensure that this holy land of Pavani, as we call Vidarbha, gets a special status. It has been decided to build a new Upazila Hospital for Pavani Taluka, which has received a generous fund of Rs 90 crores, which will have all infrastructure and basic facilities, and to modernize the Upazila Hospital for the people who have to go to Bhandara-Nagpur for their health. It has a hospital of its own right, where all the needs of the general public will be met, and the inconvenience caused from time to time will be removed. This hospital will be operational soon. This hospital will have modern treatment methods.

Bhandara is a beautiful district surrounded by nature and is also known as the lake district, for which the local MLA, Hon. Shri Narendraji Bhandekar, has taken up the task of deepening and beautifying the lake in Bhandara-Pavani assembly area and creating a garden there and has received funds of around 120 crores. Keeping in mind the feeling that all the local familiar people should have solitude and peace as well as a blissful atmosphere in the morning or evening and considering the daily increasing stress of work, this concept of Shri Narendraji Bhondekar will definitely be worthwhile. They are also working on this with the honest thought that the ponds outside the city where the Dhivar community earns its livelihood by providing a good employment opportunity for large-scale fishing.

Modernization of Bhandara District Hospital

Bhandara District Hospital is currently being equipped for some emergency services so that the problems that sometimes arise which are not solved in Bhandara District Hospital and the patients have to go to Nagpur as a solution, local MLA Hon. Shri Narendraji Bhondekar has tried to remove the inconveniences in the hospital at the earliest by giving a fund of 25 crores for the modernization of the district hospital so that the patients can get a complete health check-up and health facilities at the district hospital Bhandara instead of going to Nagpur for urgent problems.

Adyal Rural Hospital

Adyal Rural Hospital, Fund – 24 Crores; Centrally located on the Bhandara-Pavani route, the important village with many smaller villages will benefit from this rural hospital so that all primary care and emergency primary needs are met here. One of the most important questions is whether the need for health will be met here; local MLA Ma Shri Narendraji Bhondekar has decided to review and build a new building for this Adyal Rural Hospital from time to time.

Bhandara-Pavani Municipal School

Nowadays, many private schools have been established, so parents who have a strong financial situation send their children to private schools, but the children of the poor are missing out on modern education. A fund of 17 crores has been made available for this with care.

Bhandara Pavani Temple, Buddha Vihara and e-Library

Hon. One of the development work of MLA Shri Narendraji Bhondekar is to provide e-library for the convenience of students in places where there are temples and Buddha Viharas in a peaceful and peaceful environment so that only devotion can remain with both God and education. Visionary MLAs are rarely seen. For this, he has secured a fund of 12 crores

Collector, Magistrate and Tehsil Office

MLA Shri Narendra Bhondekar, through his tireless efforts, has also thought farsightedly in administrative matters to strengthen the administrative system in Bhandara district by getting a vast fund of 110 crores and to create a new environment for the administrative people. For this, proper proposals have been submitted and approved, and these works have been started.

Wastewater is impure, used water. Sewage comes out from houses and industries, and this water is unfit for drinking. Sewage that accumulates around houses, on roads and in drains is hazardous to health. It also smells dirty, makes the road slippery with that water and gives mosquitoes a place to lay their eggs. The bites of these mosquitoes give people diseases like malaria. Such impure water is called sewage. Sewage is from toilets, bathrooms, kitchens, washing dishes, factories etc. It is generated from the use of water in the place. Sewage needs to be properly disposed of; Failure to do so endangers the health of citizens. This water also adversely affects the environment.

MLA Shri Narendra Bhondekar has foresight brought this project in Bhandara-Pavani Assembly Constituency to dispose of such waste water which is harmful to health, due to such projects, health problems will be reduced to a large extent, diseases caused by mosquitoes will be reduced and a huge fund of 350 crores will be taken from Madara. This work has been promoted by making it available. In the future, due to this project, other districts of Maharashtra will also demand such a project.

Dhargaon Sub-Irrigation Scheme

400 crore project will act as a life-saving scheme for thousands of farmers and hundreds of hectares of land. So in some areas where water is needed, this scheme will benefit all farmers and hundreds of thousands of hectares of land in that area.

Dabha-Sangwari Upsa Irrigation Scheme

135 crore project will work as a life-saving scheme for thousands of farmers and hundreds of hectares of land. So in some areas where water is needed, this scheme will benefit all farmers and hundreds of thousands of hectares of land in that area.

P.W.D. and Chief Minister’s Village Road Scheme and Bridges

For this, the local MLA Shri. Narendra Bhondekar has made funds of around 300 crores available. This will involve renovation and upgradation of dilapidated roads and bridges to make communication easier and travel comfortable.

Kondha SC Ashram School

Kondha Gram Panchayat, located on Bhandara-Pavani road, is an important Gram Panchayat, and many small villages are attached to this Gram Panchayat for the convenience of the students coming here for education. A new SC Ashram School is being prepared for which a fund of 40 crores has been made available. In this way, the students will have access to all the basic facilities and will be able to fulfill their needs.

Bhandara Court

In administrative works, MLA Shri Narendra Bhondekar has given the fight of works very well. Efforts are being made to create such mechanisms to speed up the work. An example of this is that Bhandara Court has received funds of Rs. 52 crores and started construction of a new building.

Bhandara District Theatre

MLA Shri Narendra Bhondekar has done the work of setting up a theater in the Bhandara district to nurture the heritage of cultural art and give scope to art. By getting a fund of 32 crores for this theatre, it is as if he has cultivated folk art.

The resolution taken by the MLA to promote cultural programs, art plays and all forms of drama and student art in this theater has been successful. This step is taken with the vision that local artists will definitely get opportunities, and some actors from the Bhandara district will be seen on the big screen in the future.

Two OBC student hostels

Bhandara-Pavani Vidhan Sabha Constituency MLA Mr. Narendra Bhondekar has given two hostels for OBC students, saying that he has worked hard to get hostels for OBC students and got the right hostel approval for them.

<media:keywords>Awaken, Youth power roars against drugs, statewide campaign of youth started</media:keywords>

“Drugs,” which have turned Punjab into “Udta Punjab,” are now spreading their roots in Rajasthan as well. The situation is deteriorating, especially in the border districts of Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh. In response, Abhishek Chaudhary, a youth leader from the Congress party in Rajasthan, has launched a statewide campaign titled “Awaken: A War Against Drugs.” This campaign was inaugurated in Jaipur on the birth anniversary of martyr Bhagat Singh and kicked off in Sri Ganganagar with various programs on Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday.

Abhishek Chaudhary states that when Mahatma Gandhi first launched the movement for independence, he emphasized that as long as people do not quit drugs, they will not understand their responsibilities towards the country and society. Therefore, the nation first needs freedom from drugs. Through this campaign, Chaudhary aims to spread a creative message against drugs through street plays, torch rallies, and by amplifying the youth’s voice against substance abuse.

Chaudhary has expressed his commitment to visit every district, village, and town to raise awareness against drugs through creative programs targeting children, youth, women, and the elderly. So far, he has conducted several events in the capital Jaipur and the most affected area of Sri Ganganagar.

He further pointed out that while ₹290 crore was allocated for drug awareness, due to the government’s and the system’s irresponsibility, only ₹90 crore has been utilized, and that too for mere token programs. As a result, various forms of drug abuse have spread so extensively that the government alone cannot combat it. Therefore, every individual in society must stand against drugs; only then can the fight against substance abuse be won.

It is noteworthy that Abhishek Chaudhary was recently a candidate for the Congress party from Jhotevarda in the Rajasthan Assembly elections and has also served as the state president of the NSUI in Rajasthan.

Jaipur, 19 September : The tourism sector currently contributes just 5% to India’s GDP, whereas countries like Thailand and Turkey see contributions of 23% and 11%, respectively. To elevate this to at least 10%—a benchmark for any country in a stable scenario—there is a need for targeted strategies. These include decongesting popular tourist sites, developing new destinations, improving air connectivity to key markets, and making hotels more attractive for both leisure and business travelers. Additionally, states must focus on improving the Ease of Doing Business and creating favorable conditions for investment.

These insights were shared by Dr. Suman Billa, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, during the Inauguration Ceremony of the 11th Annual Convention of the Indian Heritage Hotels Association, being held at Indeco Hotel Swamimalai, Kumbakonam in Thanjavur of Tamil Nadu.

Speaking specifically about heritage, Mr. Billa emphasised that while India boasts world-class heritage sites, the visitor experience at these locations often falls short. To address this, the Archaeological Survey of India and the Ministry of Tourism must collaborate to enhance the overall tourism experience. Storytelling plays a vital role in creating a rich, immersive context for visitors, and the development of interpretation centers, museums, and other facilities can help unlock the full potential of these sites.

Additionally, incorporating fine dining, entertainment, and other amenities can further elevate the experience. Encouraging livelihoods around these monuments is essential, and a robust framework for the adaptive reuse of heritage is crucial. There is also an urgent need to fast-track conservation project proposals and attract more investment to ensure the preservation and growth of these heritage sites.

The Minister for Tourism, Government of Puducherry, Mr. K. Lakshminarayanan, remarked that the theme of this year’s IHHA Convention, ‘Revitalizing Indian Heritage,’ is highly relevant, as IHHA has played a pivotal role in developing world-class destinations across India. He praised IHHA’s commendable efforts in promoting tourism products throughout the country. He highlighted Puducherry as a unique destination that beautifully blends Tamil and European cultures, adding that the government has identified over 100 buildings to be preserved as heritage structures.

He further informed that Puducherry has also been presented with an Award by UNESCO for the cultural heritage conservation project for restoration of a street to Puducherry to its ancient architectural features.

President of Honour, IHHA, Maharaja Gaj Singh of Jodhpur said that a key pillar of IHHA’s vision has been Sustainable Preservation. By employing eco-friendly construction methods and restoration techniques, we ensure the longevity of heritage sites while minimizing environmental impact. These efforts focus on protecting natural ecosystems, creating a harmonious balance between tourism growth and conservation. Indeco Swamimalai is a great example of this sustainable preservation and other hotels must learn from their practices, he added.

The General Secretary of Indian Heritage Hotels Association, Gaj Singh Alsisar said that during this IHHA Convention, the primary intention is to communicate the expectations of the Association to the Government and equally understand what the Government expects from stakeholders. He underlined expectations from the Government, such as — Developing a National Heritage Tourism Policy, Re-developing Existing Tourist Centers and Surrounding Areas, Improve Access and Connectivity to Tourist Destinations, Identify more ‘iconic sites’ and Tourist Destinations, Allocate a Corpus Fund to preserve heritage-rich areas across the country, among others.

Earlier in his Welcome Address, IHHA Convener and Vice President, Steve Borgia, emphasized the importance of involving local communities in the management of heritage sites. He highlighted the need for more heritage hotels to adopt this practice, merchandise their products, and contribute back to the local community.

IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Puducherry, Sharath Chauhan; Member-IHHA, Chairman – Neemrana Hotels, Aman Nath and CGH / Vice President, IHHA, Jose Dominic also addressed the gathering on the occasion. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by the Convention Chairman, Rajendra Singh Pachar.

The Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan also made a presentation at the Convention, highlighting the prowess and potential of heritage tourism in Rajasthan. The presentation was made by the Joint Director, Department of Tourism, Rajesh Sharma. The Convention has a large presence of heritage hotel owners of Rajasthan who also did their branding.

Earlier the exhibition was inaugurated by the President Emeritus – IHHA, HH Maharaja Gaj Singh II.

Federal Bank Hormis Memorial Foundation, News 18 Network today announced the appointment of Indian actress Vidya Balan as the national ambassador for the second phase of the ‘Sanjeevani: United Against Cancer’ programme with Tata Trusts as knowledge partners.

The campaign #TimeNikaaleinScreenKarein, which has been launched under the programme, gets off the ground in September with a public service message by Ms. Balan. She urges both men and women to take time out and screen for Cancer. The campaign aims to bring an attitudinal and behavioral shift towards early screening by addressing effective partnerships and promoting learning and community engagement.

Cancer is the second most common cause of mortality worldwide, usually being detected much after its first onset. However, testing for cancer well in advance is an efficient method to prevent cancer, early diagnosis, and improved treatment. Being a prominent figure in Indian cinema, and her connection with the diverse audience of the country, Vidya Balan’s strong presence in the campaign will take the messaging around early testing, tumor management, and system recognition to far and wide in the country.

Speaking about the collaboration, Bollywood actor Vidya Balan said, “Screening is an essential component for detecting cancer before symptoms appear, allowing for timely and better health outcomes. Through this program, I hope to use my voice to reach out to the citizens of the nation sparking conversations around dissipating myths, misconceptions, and attitudes towards cancer screening and for the adoption of preventive health behaviour.”

Speaking on the initiative, Mr MVS Murthy, Chief Marketing Officer, Federal Bank said, “At Federal Bank, we work on building deep relationships with our customers. These relationships are further strengthened by our active participation in long-term initiatives to improve the quality of living. Sanjeevani is the Federal Hormis Memorial Foundation’s flagship initiative, which has strapped itself with multiple partners for an uphill climb. We believe that constant stoking of knowledge leads to action, periodic action to an individual’s betterment, and a collective of individuals uplift the society to deservingly lead a good quality of life. The Foundation works at various levels including patient support, encouraging early testing, corporate and residential programs to enable screening, and, awareness building initiatives. The onus is on us to test regularly, detect early, and push back the inevitability, just in case.”

Deepshikha Goel Surendran, Head of Brand and Marketing Communications, at Tata Trusts, commented, “As pioneers in cancer care, it has been our endeavor to encourage early detection through regular screening and to empower patients and caregivers. We are optimistic that this message of #TimeNikaaleinScreenKarein will resonate with both rural and urban audiences, not only positively impacting but also potentially saving lives.”

Sidharth Saini, COO, of News 18 Studios said, “With a growing population and the rising number of cancer cases, the need for regular screenings has never been more urgent and important. We are grateful to have Vidya Balan as the brand ambassador for the campaign. With her presence and intervention, we aim to make conversations around cancer screening personal, heartfelt, and stigma-free, like a caring nudge from someone you trust. It’s not just information, but relatable advice that speaks to everyday people, making it easy to connect with and act on.

Federal Hormis Memorial Foundation, last year, helped us support over 3,000 patients in Assam and Tirupati, conduct screenings for more than 1,700 employees from 30 major corporations, and get over 55,000 individuals to pledge for regular health checkups. This year, with the continued support of The Federal Hormis Memorial Foundation, we will improve our coverage by hosting more screening camps and building awareness for Cancer Screening. As the largest news network in the country, our reach is a small contribution to ensure more people make screening a part of their annual health check-ups."

New Delhi, 30th July 2024 : The All India Steel Bottles Association extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Government of India for the implementation of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) guidelines for stainless steel bottles, effective from June 5, 2024. This important initiative supports the 'Make in India' and 'Aatma Nirbhar Bharat' programs, as well as the larger goals of promoting a healthy India ('Swasth Bharat') and protecting the environment. The Quality Control Orders (QCO) for stainless steel vacuum-insulated water bottles and portable stainless steel water bottles represent a major step forward for the industry, predominantly in the MSME sector.

The BIS guidelines mandate that no stainless steel bottles can be imported into India without BIS certification. Additionally, all stainless steel bottles manufactured and sold domestically must carry the BIS certification. The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution has clarified that there will be no further extensions for the implementation of these guidelines. Large and medium manufacturers are strictly prohibited from selling non-BIS certified bottles, while small and micro manufacturers have been granted an exemption period of 6 to 9 months, respectively.

The government has highlighted its commitment to supporting and promoting the domestic industry. To facilitate this, BIS is offering faster approvals, licenses, and discounts for manufacturers setting up units within India, differentiating products based on their place of manufacture. Indian-made products are eligible for these benefits, ensuring that domestic manufacturers can quickly adapt to the new standards and maintain their market competitiveness.

Mr. Bharat Agarwal, Director of Crown Craft India and Treasurer of the All India Steel Bottles Association, expressed his gratitude, stating, "We are immensely grateful to the government for implementing the QCO for stainless steel bottles. This move will provide a lifeline to our industry and offer Indian consumers better quality products. As per the recent conference by the Bureau of India Standards on 2nd July during the HGH trade show in Mumbai, the officials mentioned that selling any imported items is now illegal and can lead to confiscation. In preparation to the same, Indian companies already have the installed capacities to replace import volumes immediately, showcasing our dedication to meeting BIS standards."

As part of the BIS Act, 2016, it is a punishable offence to import, manufacture, promote, store, sell and distribute any product which is not BIS certified. It has also been advised to always check the CML Number and below stated ISI Markings before purchasing and accepting the product:

<media:keywords>Study Uncovers Critical Rural-Urban Disparities, Rajasthan’s Electricity Access and Quality, Rural areas in Rajasthan</media:keywords>

Jaipur, 10th July 2024 – Rural areas in Rajasthan experience up to 12 hours of electricity cuts on average per day while urban areas in the state witness significantly shorter supply cuts (0 to 6 hours daily). Moreover, close to 60 percent rural population in Rajasthan have to wait for more than 6 hours for electricity restoration post complaints whereas only 13 percent of urban consumers face similar lengthy delays. These findings were released as part of a study titled, “Understanding the Availability and Quality of Electricity Supply”, which was conducted by the Orange Tree Foundation.

Covering 12 locations (6 villages and 6 wards) across Jaipur (North), Banswara (South), and Jodhpur (West), the study was undertaken with an objective of assessing the availability and quality of electricity supply and the impact of unreliable & low-quality electricity on lives, livelihoods, and businesses. Despite achieving 100 percent electrification across the country, the rural areas still struggle to receive reliable and quality supply of electricity; negatively impacting children's education, healthcare facilities, small businesses as well as daily activities.

The report found significant disparity between rural and urban areas with only 3 percent of rural consumers getting their electricity restored within one hour of lodging a complaint, whereas around 51 percent of urban consumers experience swift restoration within one hour of registering a complaint. Additionally, around 25 percent of consumers in Rajasthan reported experiencing voltage fluctuations causing interruptions and equipment failure. Frequent power cuts and voltage fluctuations particularly affected livelihoods particularly in rural areas where access to electricity is crucial for agricultural activities and small-scale businesses.

Ms. Shobhana Tewari, Study Lead & Advisor, Orange Tree Foundation said, “The study highlighted that an overall improvement is seen in the availability and quality of supply of electricity in the last decade. Rural areas in Rajasthan have seen an increase in the supply of electricity since 2015. However, there are still many remote and rural areas where access to electricity still lacks. This divide also impacts the growth trajectory of rural vs urban areas."

Mr. D. D. Agarwal, Director, Samta Power said, “The government has been actively working to enhance the electricity supply and quality in Rajasthan. However, a significant divide exists between urban and rural areas, highlighting the need for substantial improvements in village electrification. In this digital age, where education, healthcare, and numerous other services depend on reliable internet and computer access, a continuous 24x7 electricity supply is crucial.”

Equipment breakdown due to voltage fluctuations was reported by over 60 percent of consumers in Rajasthan, particularly among urban consumers. The study also found that approximately 50 percent of consumers in Rajasthan incurred out-of-pocket expenses of around Rs.1000 to ensure stable electricity supply at their residences.

The findings of the study were released at a roundtable, “People’s View on Quality of Electricity Supply in Rajasthan” which was graced by various industry experts, academicians, and public representatives. This report serves as a vital resource for policymakers, stakeholders, and the community, aiming to bridge inherent gaps and improve the electricity supply landscape in Rajasthan.

The world in which many of us live is no exception to this rule, with a majority of the population driven by personal interests and self-centeredness. Yet, every once in a while, we bear witness to a rare but largely admired example, the person who lives in service of others, an invaluable embodiment of compassion and selflessness ideals. Any social program is made possible by individuals with a strong drive to make a change. Mohammed Umar is such a person. He has been an agent of change since 2016, and his work has not only improved the lives of so many but has also inspired many with hearts full of hope. Through the spirit of being devoted and taking special care, Mohammed is no more a sign of hope, which illustrates to the world that despite all the odds, deeds like these have the power to cast even the darkest areas of the community into light.

Ranging from health education and free checkup camps to donating fundamental assets like books and bags to children who built the initiative in 2016, Mohammed has vividly illustrated his dedication to community improvement and welfare. Besides that, his involvement in the delivery of food packs for orphaned kids and old people manifests even more of his engraved compassion and attachment to the vulnerable.

It has been his family which remains with him through thick and thin and that has been his springboard. His efforts to help as many people as he can extend ever-farther now. On January 2, 2022, he took a firm and definite step forward starting the UH Foundation, an expression of his continued involvement for the benefit of the society.

Mohammed's initials – thus the foundation's name – reflect his dream to establish an organization that supports social change and spreads messages of kindness, exercising humanity and philanthropy. Building this foundation, he hopes to take his assistance to as many people as he can through collective efforts and kindness, which is a belief he deeply feels that just one person can make a remarkable difference.

By Ghada Abudayyeh, we also reinforce the journey of the UH Foundation founder as one of humbleness and as a model of philanthropy and compassion. Throughout the years integrity and dignity served as guidelines he followed to improve other people's lives. Now he is an example for those who also wish to make a difference in the lives of people who have never had bad luck.

“When we came to Whitehall, the team were blown away by the size and beauty of this majestic building,” said Sanjay Hinduja, who has overseen the project.

“No expense has been spared in bringing it back to its former glory and paying homage to its heritage, whilst breathing new life into it. Along with Raffles London at The OWO, we hope to create a legacy that is both timeless and unsurpassed,” he said.

The Hinduja Family had acquired the landmark building on Whitehall, opposite Downing Street, over eight years ago and tied up with Raffles Hotels to transform the building into an extravagant hub complete with luxury residences, restaurants and spas.

The Old War Office, originally completed in 1906 and designed by British architect William Young, was formerly the site of the original Palace of Whitehall. The building has since witnessed world-shaping events while influential political and military leaders like Winston Churchill and David Lloyd George held office in the UK. Its grand architecture has also made the building a backdrop for James Bond films and, more recently, ‘The Crown' Netflix series.

“Everyone at Accor feels honoured and privileged to be part of this historic project that has surpassed all expectations – truly a legend in the making and possibly the most awe-inspiring hotel on the planet,” said Sébastien Bazin, Accor Chairman & CEO.

“Together with the Hinduja family, we proudly invite locals and travellers alike to experience this extraordinary hotel as well as the authenticity and graciousness of Raffles, one of our most prestigious brands in one of the world's greatest cities,” he said.

As part of the renovation with the help of hundreds of artisans, the historic interior elements have been restored, including delicate hand-laid mosaic floors, oak panelling, glittering chandeliers, and a magnificent marble staircase. The OWO features 120 guest rooms and suites, signature dining experiences by chef Mauro Colagreco, entertainment spaces including a grand ballroom.

The most historically significant areas of the building include the Heritage Suites, former offices of the influential political and military leaders associated with its history.

A number of these will be available for exclusive reservations as “The Whitehall Wing”, a six-bedroom suite occupying the west wing of the building which can accommodate up to 12 guests – one of the largest luxury hotel wings available in London.

“At Raffles London, the history of the former Old War Office lives on, through its splendid architecture, carefully chosen interior design and expansive Heritage Suites. We are excited to provide guests with the highly personalised and intuitive service for which Raffles is known the world over. Visitors will be spoiled for choice with the eclectic array of world-class restaurants and bars in an unrivalled location,” said Philippe Leboeuf, Managing Director of Raffles London at The OWO.

The transformed OWO also houses 85 Residences by Raffles as part of the building's reimagining as a new culinary district for London, complete with nine new restaurants and three bars, including a rooftop with panoramic views onto Buckingham Palace.

In a momentous achievement, India has secured its position as the first nation to successfully execute a lunar south pole landing through the Chandrayaan-3 mission. Embarking on a 40-day voyage from the Sathish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has achieved a remarkable milestone. The Vikram lander of the Chandrayaan-3 mission gracefully touched down on the Moon's surface at 6.04 PM IST on August 23.

Initiating the critical phase at 5.44 PM IST, ISRO initiated the automatic landing sequence. Guided by its onboard computers and sophisticated logic, the Vikram lander meticulously maneuvered for a soft lunar landing. While the ISRO Telemetry, Tracking, and Command Network (ISTRAC) vigilantly monitored the process, the lander's autonomous systems orchestrated the intricate task, signifying a momentous stride in India's space exploration competence.

Succeeding the Chandrayaan-2 mission in 2019, marred by the Vikram lander's crash landing, Chandrayaan-3 aimed to reaffirm ISRO's prowess in achieving a soft Moon landing—a feat mastered by only a handful of nations. With this triumph, India now joins the exclusive league comprising the United States, the Soviet Union, and China as the sole countries to conquer this challenging endeavor.

The success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission carries profound implications for India's ambitions in space exploration. Beyond showcasing the nation's burgeoning space technology expertise, it underscores ISRO's resilience in learning from setbacks. The victorious landing near the lunar south pole unlocks fresh avenues for scientific inquiry and exploration, capitalizing on the unique geological attributes of this terrain.

This achievement has ignited jubilant celebrations across the nation, uniting citizens and scientists in commemorating ISRO's monumental accomplishment. The seamless soft landing of Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander on the Moon's south pole not only solidifies India's stature in the global space community but also paves the trajectory for future ambitious cosmic pursuits.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India]: Sudhakar Group, a leading PVC Pipes and Fittings manufacturer in South India, has expanded its horizons by laying the foundation stone for the mega plant to manufacture all types of plastic piping systems for agriculture, water supply, and construction segments in an area of 22 acres near Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.

Meela Jayadev, Director of Sudhakar PVC Products, said, “Sudhakar has been predominantly in southern markets for the last five decades. This foundation stone is a giant leap for our company as we celebrate 50 years in the industry this year. We have laid the foundation stone on 15th august 2022, as India completes 75 years of independence. The plant will be catering to northern, western and central Indian markets. We have started marketing and sales operations concurrently in these markets. We are projecting full-scale operations at the plant within the following year.

These areas have substantial growth prospects in the next few years. As India embarks on a journey to create a 5 Trillion dollar economy, there will be a significant focus on construction, infrastructure and agricultural segments, and we will be in the centre of these developments.

This is a green field project with a covered area of close to 4,00,000 square feet. Sudhakar has always been known for its quality and service to its customers, and the same will be replicated in the new markets.”

Sudhakar Group is the leading PVC Pipes and Fittings manufacturer in South India and has carved a niche in the field of wires and cables, UPVC window and door profiles.

For more information, visit https://www.sudhakarind.com/
